Before Covid I used to love going to the motion picture theater.
Not any more, and it isn’t just that I don’t assume safe crowded in with dozens of other people not wearing masks.
It is also because there are fewer motion pictures to see, and almost all of them are available streaming at home, which precludes the need to go to a theater at all. I found that I rarely missed going out to see a motion picture, because so many of them were at my fingertips already. Then the local cannabis dispensary and its smokers lounge decided to host a yearly motion picture evening, and found that I could not resist the urge. The lounge was only of moderate size, but had squeezed in enough chairs for thirty people to comfortably enjoy the motion picture and smoke cannabis freely. The projector showed Half Baked on the wall, so it felt a little care about a real motion picture theater. In truth, I don’t think Half Baked is very good unless you smoke cannabis throughout the entire motion picture, so that’s what I did! That is what most people did, and collectively the two of us must have burned through more than two ounces of OG Kush through that motion picture. I recommended that for the next motion picture evening they show a better motion picture about marijuana, perhaps Dazed and Confused, or Humboldt County. There was really no reason they were restricted to showing motion pictures involving cannabis – they could literally show any motion picture they wanted! I hope they start taking requests, because there are a lot of classic motion pictures I would care about to watch at the cannabis dispensary.
