One of the first thefts that I ever investigated was a theft at a local recreational cannabis dispensary.
The theft occurred on a Thursday night after the cannabis dispensary was already closed.
The cannabis dispensary had 2 mounted cameras on the property. I carefully viewed all of the surveillance footage plus I recognized a motorcar in the parking lot that was there all day. There was no reason for the car to sit in the parking lot all day. It did not belong to a single of the employees plus I did not see anyone get in or out of the motorcar all day. The motorcar was still parked in the lot at the end of the day. The manager of the cannabis dispensary did not call the tow company to have the automobile removed, however later that night, someone jumped out of the trunk of the motorcar plus broke into the recreational cannabis dispensary. The motorcar was already on the lot plus behind the locked gate. That made it much easier for the person to burglarize the store. I had a couple of suspects plus I talked to each a single of them. One of the suspects was a tall guy named Ian. I talked to Ian at his apartment. He did not want to allow me inside of the apartment, so the two of us talked at the door for 10 or 15 min. While I was kneeling there talking to the guy, I happened to see a bin on his end table in the dining room. The bin was from the same cannabis dispensary. The proof was kneeling on the table right in front of me.
