My neighbor is a sweet old lady named Janice.
She has been my neighbor for the last ten years, the entire time I’ve lived here.
Janice is extremely elderly, over 90 years old I would guess, because it’s rude to ask a lady her age. During the COVID pandemic I had to help Janice get supplies a few times, and she never forgot how I helped her. Janice can’t drive, or get out of the house very often, so I had to bring her food, water, and medicine. These days anything that Janice needs to be delivered, from the pharmacy, the grocery store, or the cannabis dispensary. Even though I don’t need to pick up her cannabis for her anymore, Janice is still very generous with it. She is deeply grateful for my help, so she freely gives me all the cannabis I care to smoke. When I feel guilty she makes fun of me for it, because as she likes to say “I’ve got more marijuana than I could smoke in a lifetime.” Which is true, Janice has a staggering amount of cannabis in her house, and still gets a new delivery every week. I ask Janice why she keeps buying more cannabis when she already has so much. She says “it’s better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.” I can’t fault her logic, especially since she hooks me up with a few grams of cannabis every week. I can’t even recall the last time I had to pay for my own cannabis.
