Once a week I meet with my friend Carol at the local coffee shop.
I have known Carol for decades, and now that our kids are all grown and moved out on their own, that friendship is more important than ever before.
We were close when we were young, and now we are closer than ever as grandparents. Only another grandparent can understand the stresses and challenges that come with it. Over the years Carol and I have both changed in many ways. Carol got heavily into drinking wine, for example, while I have always favored using medical cannabis. Carol used to chide me about it, saying that medical cannabis was unbecoming for a grandmother. I had to laugh at that, because while I subtly enjoyed the effects of cannabis gummies, Carol was staining her lips red by chugging wine all day. One day I invited her out for coffee, and asked her to take one of my cannabis gummies, just to see what it was like. I said that once she had cannabis gummies she wouldn’t want to drink wine anymore. My prediction was not 100% accurate. Carol did have a great time that day, and now she likes eating cannabis gummies and drinking wine at the same time. For an old lady, Carol sure knows how to party! One day we want to buy some cannabis drinks from the dispensary, and see how they compare to red wine. Now our weekly date has moved from the local coffee shop to the local cannabis dispensary cafe and smokers lounge. It’s a lot more fun here.
