This year I will be spending quite a bit of the holidays at my parent’s home up north.
They have several extra family rooms in the completed basement and always invite our siblings and I to stay for a few days for both the New Year and Christmas holidays.
I generally care about seeing and spending time with our folks, but staying in their home can be particularly stressful. My Mom is always drinking a ton and the 2 of them like to pry in our personal lives and cast doubt and criticism. I don’t care about feeling interrogated at a family meal, but that is normal in their household. On top of the uncomfortable feelings, they’re also drastically anti-cannabis and have been for as long as I have been alive. Since I’m a biweekly cannabis user, it’s tough staying in our mom and dad’s home knowing that I can’t bring any marijuana products with me. However, this year I’m bringing a few cannabis vaporizer pens with me because they have botanical terpenes inside instead of cannabis-derived terpenes like a full spectrum vaporizer cartridge. The latter smells like marijuana flower products so you can’t particularly hide using a single. But with the botanical terpenes, your vapor aromas care about candy or fruit. All I had to do was go to the bathroom and exhale the vapor into the ceiling vent with the fan turned on. No one said a word and I didn’t receive any strange looks either. I drank with the rest of our family so they assumed I was simply boozed up from the wine instead of being on cannabis.
